Hi everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I forgot to post this announcement to the
list and was hoping some of you developer types might want to help out
on this project - especially some of you RedHat folks who love music and
open source.

I have scheduled a Google Hangout to discuss the Netmix Open Source
Theme Framework for Music Sites project we're kicking off.

The project will be hosted at Netmix.org. We'll use Git for commits and
to track progress. And there's a #netmix IRC channel on Freenode set,
but will not be active tonight - it's just the Google Hangout.

The goal is to build a completely free theme framework that includes a
persistent audio player experience that artists/labels/bands can use to
sell/stream or give away their music to fans, publish an events
calendar, photo and video galleries, and connect to various APIs that
will be identified as useful tools for artists. We also plan to build
out an API where services can make requests to the framework to pull
artists music for their own platforms while reporting back to the
originator rights clearances, usage reporting and other features that
will assist the artist in distributing their music to other services by
accepting requests instead of making requests (if that makes sense).

Tonight's Hangout is organizational kick-off for those who are
interested in contributing to this Open Source project. The Hangout is
at 9 pm EST.

If you want to join the Hangout tonight, please send me an email
to tonyzeoli at netmix.org <mailto:tonyzeoli at netmix.org> and I will add
you to the invite.

We are seeking the following to assist:

  * Front End Developers: Experience with Wordpress; skills required
    include HTML5, CSS3, javaScript, jQuery, AJAX, php. Should have
    familiarity with mySQL.
  * Sys Admin: skills required Linux, Apache and NGINX.
  * Publicist
  * Social Media Manager
  * Community Manager
  * Technical Writer
  * 501(c)3 or L3C Advisor / Attorney
  * QA

Other resource needs TBD.

At some point, we will start seeking donations and/or funding through
direct contributions or Kickstarter - TBD.

This is my first open source project that I'm organizing, so there's a
lot for me to learn in terms of how direct team members are compensated,
if at all, and how the structure of the org is set up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Â
