[TriLUG] Database Software

+1 on sqlite. There are several user interfaces, but I like sqliteman. I have run into less bugs than some of the others. It is still not nearly as friendly as Lotus or excel, but the good thing is that this combination can be used on linux or windows. The network capability is as easy as file access over any of the typical sharing, nfs, smb, etc. One ceveat on the sharing is that if the database is super busy it will hit locks. But I have run as many as 30 people off a shared sqlite database with very little issue, but the load really depends on how much activity there is instead of number of users. I am just trying to give you an idea.

Subject: [TriLUG] Database Software

I am slowly trying to get a client to consider Linux.  But there is one major stumbling block -- a database program
that is as easy to use as Lotus Approach.  Because it must be networked Wine doesn't seem to be an option.

Yes, I know Approach is XBase.
Yes, I know no one uses XBase anymore.
No, they don't need a sophisticated SQL application.

The user interface, is so-o-o-o easy with Approach, and I have written a lot of LotusScript for this application;
which they have been using for nearly10 years.

Everything I've looked at is just too darn complicated (reminds me of Access!)  Is there anything that isn't going to
require months of learning on my part and the clients?
