I use it as a replacement for Quicken.  I don't know how it compares to
QuickBooks.

I found I had to forget the 'Quicken' way of doing things: GnuCash uses the
double-entry
accounting method which I was able to pick up without too much trouble.

then again, I have no background in accounting, so other than seeing that
the numbers
add up I have no idea if I'm using it *correctly*.
