[TriLUG] "wild" space on web page -- corrupt jpeg data

Folks,

I have been fighting this for a while, hoping, perhaps, that the answer would come to me in a blinding flash, but, so far, nothing.

I have a CakePHP 1.1 system that I am maintaining, and have a "small" problem. I have a page that contains an IMG tag, with the source being a link into the system ( it calls a controller function that returns the content of a JPEG file ).

Unfortunately, there is a single newline appearing as the first character of the image data. This means, of course, that the image doesn't display.

I know "why" I have the problem, but I can't seem to find the cause of the failure.

I have rewritten the page a couple of times, and examined the controller function that returns the image data, and am almost certain that it isn't the culprit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian

P.S. I have tried the TriPUG mailing list, but apparently don't have
write access there. ( The successor to TriPUG, anyway. ) I am also
trying the CakePHP forum, but usually get my best answers here.
