In my experience, if the machine cannot support 4 GB's of RAM, 32 bit is
better. The reason for this is that pointers take only 4 bytes instead of
8, so there is less overhead. I have seen this have real impact on, for
example, MySQL on a low end VPS box. Because of this, my recommendation is
that if your laptop can only have up to 2 GB's, go with 32 bit. If it can
do 4 GB's or more, go with 64 bit.
