Easy, it didn't work well at all. So, I tried building VLC from source.
That downloaded much of the Internet, to satisfy it's codecs and
depends. By the time I was done, I ate up my satellite bandwidth for the
month. The following month, I just upgraded to Jessie. Now, VLC has all
the bells and whistles I want.
"What drove you to this?", the gentle reader might ask? The wheezy
version, again older than dirt, could not open files in the correct
order, even when the file names were identical and incrementally
numbered. On a list from 01-foobar.flv to 10-foobar.flv, it would open
to number five. The newer version offers to 'open multiple files" and
they play in the correct sort order.
Since I migrated from Ubuntu 13.10 to Wheezy, there was also a bit of
culture shock. It was like finding only "Hunt The Wumpus" under "Games"
in your menu bar. <grins> Ric
