It's called intermod(ulation)

I found that the problem could be cured on the original box by putting 2db 
coaxial attenuators between the antenna and the connectors on the wifi box. This 
wasn't a great solution as the range was reduced and I had to use adaptors on 
each end of the attenuators to change from regular polarity to reversed polarity 
wifi.
