I have been experimenting with a Raspberry Pi Model B (512MB) as a router. It's a tad slow on CPU (even tried overclocked). I'd say get the newer Pi 2 model that has more CPU and that would probably work well. I'm waiting for the price to come down on Amazon to grab one.
