For those still wanting to mess with an RPi: you can certainly do some
things with it. First, you can always run the SD card in read-only mode:

You can also set a few options, such as more frequent fsck, and having
system logs written to RAM-only.

Additionally, here's the harness I found before:

Not suggesting anyone spend too much time on this, but wanted to document
the research I did a while ago.
