[TriLUG] Hello all....

Welcome back, person I don't know! :-)
Just how wet do you want your feet to get? I'd suggest buying a handful of Raspberry Pi 2 starter kits (<$100). There're out-of-the-box Linux options for those (notably Raspbian, based on Debian); they've got USB, Ethernet, and HDMI... And did I mention they're <$100 each? And that's for a "starter kit" which will include a suitable power supply (5v 2A w/ USB micro connector) and case. The Pi 2 alone is $35 (you provide your own power supply, SD card, and case).
It may seem more daunting to jump onto an ARM platform like the Pi, but for the moderate user, there's almost no difference.
With that all said, this is TriLUG after all...isn't having at least two unused, old-as-dirt computers lying around a membership requirement? ;-)

Subject: [TriLUG] Hello all....
It's been some time since I chatted with this group but I am glad to be back. Looks like much has changed and I want to get back into the linux scene. My first comment will be a request for help:
Can anyone point me in the direction of getting access to surplus computers, laptops, or tablets so I can create a home linux network and sandbox environment please?, I have had the worst time trying to find used computer stuff and I really don't want to blow a huge amount on stores like Best Buy or Intrex, thanks!-
