[TriLUG] USB Data Logger - Linux Only

I have an extra laptop with Mint 14 installed and want to find a low cost temperature data logger than runs in Linux. I can find Windows ones but I don't have an extra Windows laptop. I could setup a Raspberry Pi but I'd like something to just plug into my laptop. Monitoring temperature for 12 hours per day, 50 to 70 degrees F.  Simple text, csv, etc output is all I need.

Anyone know of something? Cost should be less that $20.
