I thought this job sounded like a good match for someone on the list. It
is local to Durham, NC. I've provided a synopsis from Megan, the
recruiter, and her contact information. It's a scripting/automation type
role. Ruby, Python, that kind of thing, in other words, fun stuff.

A local academic organization is looking for a Network Programmer. In this
role, the network programmer will be tasked with working with the
networking and engineering teams. This person will be responsible for
looking at data and creating tools to automate routine tasks such as
monitoring and deployment. Much of the current tools are written in Ruby
and to help avoid the need to rewrite current tools in another language,
they are looking for someone strong in Ruby. Python and Perl are also
utilized through small scripts. As this individual looks at the data, they
will work to program, link systems together, work with API's and ensure
other tools, such as Splunk, are monitoring data, as well.

This person will need a fundamental understanding of Cisco product lines
within the R/S environments. Understanding of BGP and OSPF will be key.
This person will also need to have experience within a DevOps environment,
wherein they utilized languages, GIT or GITLAB to assist with automated
deployment of code. The ideal candidate has experience using API's and RES,
which pulls data.
