[TriLUG] Monospace font with unicode support

I keep running into situations where I need to edit text with unicode
characters in it - math symbols, foreign letters, etc.. Problem is, all
these characters are slightly different sizes, I think because of font
fallbacks.

Is there a good way to edit unicode text in a monospace font?

I tried GNU Unifont, but it has very poor legibility compared to Consolas,
DejaVu mono, etc..
