[TriLUG] buy windows - ugh!

I'm sticking with Win 7 for my very limited M$ needs, for example
playing a few computer games that haven't been ported to Steam for Linux
yet.  It costs less, and the difference as far as a gaming platform goes
is minimal.

The main reason that I'll be waiting a long time to go to Win10 (if
ever) is the vast amount of information it reports back to Redmond.  If
you haven't read about that there are many articles online, e.g.

I haven't been keeping up on the topic, perhaps the telemetry can be
fully sanitized now without requiring an upgrade to the higher tier
commercial versions.  When I read that it uses a separate internal
network stack for telemetry that ignores proxying and other filtering
requirements on the primary stack, it motivated me to speed up my
transition to 100% Linux.
