[TriLUG] I "discovered" a bug!

I find it remarkable that 18.04 has so many problems. This is the worst I've seen with ubuntu. FWIW, this bug is acknowledged at

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes

under known issues. But, such a biggie as this should not have been hanging around since April! I'm my view, it should not have made it to beta! People have enough problems understanding and transitioning to UEFI.

My stance has been to wait for EOL for 16.04 before upgrading. And, I really worry because I dual boot and have not moved to UEFI on my desktop.

??! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Is ubuntu becoming like Windows-10, with its updates creating havoc? Ugh!

Subject: [TriLUG] I "discovered" a bug!

Group,

I just tried to re-install my Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS primary development
machine, and discovered that the installer has a bug, which they know
about, but have delivered anyway.

It is at ( hand copied ):

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1766945

If you do NOT "erase and install from scratch," the installer does not
create ( re-create ) the EFI partition, and GRUB does not install and
the installer crashes.

Isn't that fun?
