+1 on the Mohu Leaf  - I have a Mohu Leaf Fifty w/ amplifier just for those
cable or power outage times  (have a generator also).  I think is was like
$49 at best buy.  I'm in Raleigh and get a bunch of stations.  Ended up
buying one for my MIL also since her cable seems to go out regularly.

There a website (don't remember the name and probably several of them) that
you can plug in a location and it will tell you over the air stations that
you should be able to get and breaks it down in range from stations.
Should be easy to find w/ a bit of google magic - popular in the
cable-cutters world.

Not promoting Best Buy but they do price match guarantee but you can buy it
local, take it for a test ride, and if it isn't good enough for your needs
simply return it.
