[TriLUG] OT: comms inside a corrugated metal building

I'm envisioning a WiFi range extender
<https://www.bestbuy.com/site/networking/wireless-network-extenders/pcmcat161100050044.c?id=pcmcat161100050044>
with one or more detachable antennas for the "upstream" side. You'd put the
range extender inside the metal building, drill a hole through the outside
wall, and mount the upstream antenna(s) on the outside. (If range is an
issue you might substitute a Yagi antenna
<https://www.walmart.com/ip/RP-SMA-2-4GHz-25dBi-Directional-Outdoor-Wireless-Yagi-Antenna-WiFi-for-Router-VP/623201825>.)
The range extender would serve as your access point inside the building,
forwarding between the inside and outside.

Has anyone on this list done that? Does such a device even exist?

Dave
