I have about half a dozen waps in various parts of the house running
OpenWRT. I set it up about 7 years ago as it seemed to be the way to go.
However WAP hardware is flakey and needs rebooting now and again and
OpenWRT has its own distributionness, which I have to remember every time
I mess with it. It's working so I'm not going to pull it down, but I would
never do it again. I would use a PC style router with the same
distribution I use on all my other machines and have WAPs only as bridges
(ie a leaf node) and doing no routing.
I do have my OpenWRT machines with separate SSIDs for g and a and use the
higher speed a links to relay from one part of the house to another.
