[TriLUG] Cron doesn't seem to run

I have this bit of trivia stuck in my brain.

Be careful how you edit your crontab file.  Cron has been very picky in the
past on how it handles tabs and spaces and <CR> >LF> and all of that sort
of stuff.  I can recall thing looking perfect in the crontab and that not
really being the case.
