Thanks, Stephen, for reminding me to post here, too.

BitSight, the company where I have been working since 2016, is looking
for several software developers.
BitSight is a "security ratings" company. It's a lot like what
Equifax, TransUnion and Experian do for consumer financial ratings...
except we rate COMPANIES on their NETWORK SECURITY performance.
We build an extensive map of the internet -- domains, IPs,
certificates, and so on -- and we determine which companies own all of
those assets. Then we correlate the billions of observed security
events (available from hundreds of widely available feeds/subscriptions)
with that map of ownership. The result is a "rating" of each company's
externally observable security posture.
Yeah, it's weird, but it's extremely useful, and it's very popular with
customers who want an external view of their own security, or who want
to monitor the security of their vendors.
We mainly use Python and Java, depending on which part of the product
stack you're working in. We're looking to expand across all areas of
our data pipeline. It's interesting and meaningful work. And more than
anything, we have a very positive culture of people who just like to
solve problems.
We are location-independent, although we do have offices in Boston,
Lisbon and Raleigh (Glenwood Avenue south, near the Raleigh Beer
Garden). Most people work from home.
I am a team lead on the group that maintains the map of companies
across the internet. That's a complex and messy problem, and we're
constantly trying to incorporate new IP/domain discovery techniques, as
well as just keeping the existing wheels turning. We provide tools to a
team of 70+ researchers who continually curate our maps. Our team is
looking for Python/Django/Postgres developer with occasional/basic
Javascript/UI skills. That position is a junior-to-mid-level position.
Many of the other openings are Java based, and deal with the
"crunching" of the billions of daily internet events against the
millions of companies to compute our ratings.
If any of this sounds interesting, let me know, and I'll get you into
our recruiting system.
