[TriLUG] I'm looking for a good shared hosting web host

For hosting where I want root and my own VM, Hetzner has been excellent for me: they now have data center locations in the US as well as Germany and Finland. I can honestly say the latency to Europe has been unnoticeable, though: I used two of their smallest cloud hosts for teaching a class this past term and had no issues with latency.

For service hosting where I just want to click-enable a service and have them worry about keeping the thing up to date and configured (e.g., my wife's author website), I've been using A2 Hosting for years now and been very happy with their service. They have a full admin panel that offers single-click installs and management of things like Wordpress, but I've also got SSH into the individual host (as a user) for moving files around or configuring stuff under the hood. I did use Pair in the past for hosting and was really happy with their service (I still use and highly recommend them for DNS!), but I found A2 was both slightly less expensive and slightly faster.
