Old enough to remember RedHat, not RHEL, being sold as shrink wrap beside
Windows at Best Buy. Long enough to know what a feat that was.
First Linux desktop experience was helping a friend install Red Hat 5 on
their Sony VIAO PC. Prior hands on *nix experience at that point had mostly
been BSD for niche applications (ala firewall on a floppy disk). Trying to
get the kernel compiled to fully support that VIAO's video card was an
experience. But my friend needed it to use for programming classes at NCSU.
