Summary:
Dr. Jasper and Shivam will be presenting the topic 'Improving the Machine
IQ of Devices with Docker and Raspberry Pi'.
Dr. Jasper has been interested in real-time data acquisition and control
since his undergraduate days at MIT when he measured the variation of the
earth’s gravity due to the tides. Although he has worked in the aerospace
industry designing spacecraft altitude and control systems, he currently
designs data acquisition and control systems for textile processes. His
research interests include measurement and control of dyeing, plasma
textiles for nano-particle filtration, liquid-solid interfaces, and writing
Linux device drivers which can be found at
https://github.com/wjasper/Linux_Drivers. In 2014 and again in 2019, he was
the recipient of a Fulbright Specialist Fellowship in engineering education
to promote lean six-sigma in industrial engineering curricula. In 2020 he
was awarded a Jefferson Science Fellowship by the National Academies of
Sciences, Engineering and Medicine where he worked at the State Department
on Critical and Emerging Technologies. Dr. Jasper is a licensed
Professional Engineer with the State of North Carolina. He teaches courses
in fabric formation, analog and digital electronics, and lean six sigma
quality.
Shivam Ghodke, Graduate Student Computer Science, NCSU.
