I once had a bad BIOS upgrade on a Dell XPS 13. I bought a bus pirate,
figured out how to unpack the firmware, and had a plan to desolder the CMOS
and re-flash it the old fashioned way. But my ambition was too great for my
skills and I lifted the pads while desoldering. I think that level of
"error" is beyond my skills and time-allowances, but if you want to borrow
a bus pirate...
