[TriLUG] anyone using Meshtastic?

I was wondering how widespread LoRa/Meshtastic is. I looked for
weatherstations on Amazon. Only one used LoRa (a Raddy7) and that was from
the weatherstation to the console. It didn't have meshtastic, so you
couldn't connect to a weatherstation two hops away.

There were other problems with the Raddy7

o you are expected to replace the transmitter on the weatherstation every
year (or two), although I didn't find out why. This is a showstopper to
me.

o the console and the weatherstation have a one-to-one connection. You
can't use a console to access multiple weatherstations. So if you had
multiple weather stations at the limit of the range (1.9miles), you would
need multiple consoles.

Further searches on Amazon for LoRa/meshtastic just brought up meshstatic
development boards

Don't upgrade a working machine - it won't work any
better - it could work worse; it may not work at all.
