Ha!  I have no idea.  My instinct is that it's no safer or less-safe 
than a single public interface, subject in the same way to proper use of 
stateful firewalls, etc.

I'm using Tailscale myself, but someone else surely has a much deeper 
understanding of it than I do (I'm not advanced enough to tinker with 
config files yet).
