By default, LFS uses sysvinit as its init system. You can also choose
systemd. If you choose sysvinit, then it's very easy to transition to
other superior init systems like runit and s6. You can also use a
hybrid where PID1 belongs to sysvinit, while using runit or s6 for
daemon supervision. The hybrid approach is the quickest and easiest
route to a top notch quality bootup.
