I'll echo this. I maintain user accounts and sudo rules in IPA, and it
works pretty well for me. I can also run ipa commands from the command
line to query and modify it... something I would have a miserable time
with against AD.
That said, searching for things in IPA is a PITA. So I wrote a Perl
script to dump the sorts of things I do want to search into a giant Perl
data structure, that I can either search in a text editor, or ingest into
another Perl program.
