[TriLUG] vi escape config option

       Long time ago while an undergraduate I used vi, not vim. In its
config file there was a setting that made it escape off the editing
mode if I moved the cursor using the arrow keys. I have been told the
full fledged vim package supports that but nobody tells me how. And,
frankly, this is hiding stuff behind the curtain.

For those of you who predate vim, or are way more knowledgeable than
me, do you know how to do the deed?
