Looking at the url at http://www.baycom.org/~tom/ham/soundmodem/
it doesn't look like a 2.6 kernel is required for this to work.
It looks like it just needs the correct sound drivers, which,
I believe knoppix already has.  So, this may be the way to go=20
there.
