[TriLUG] Dropped connections show persistant users....

When Road Runner drops our connection on a much too regular basis I end up 
with these persistent & inconsistent logs of who is on the system.  Uptime 
and who claim 5 users on line, but w shows (correctly) only 1 user.  This 
happens anytime the network crashes mid session.  Is there anyway to force 
the wtmp file to purge these logins somehow, how does it not detect the 
disconnect even when the sshd and bash procids are gone?  This is annoying 
but obviously not impacting... -Barry
