EXT3 is running like a dream on my laptop. The "never fsck again
unl;ess somehting is really, really hosed up" is really nice.

But it's nice insurance. There is no such thing as a crash-proof
system, and adding a journaled FS to your regular (or irregular)
preventive mainence is a Good Thing(TM).
I'm keen on EXT3, myself, since it's a non-destructive switch (unlike
reiser, jfs and the like) as long as you use the right command to make
the changes (continues to flog self repeatedly).
Oh, and thanks for all the advice, eveyone, but I ened up starting
over. Funny how much crap you have that you think you need, and then
when something drastic happens, you find out the truth...
