After doing some debugging, it looks like the culprit was actually the fam
(File Alteration Monitor) package.

(gdb) where
#0  0x40c4e7a2 in __builtin_new (sz=12) from /usr/lib/libfam.so.0
#1  0x407154d9 in QGArray::newData () from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#2  0x40714769 in QGArray::QGArray () from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#3  0x409e0906 in __static_initialization_and_destruction_0 ()
   from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#4  0x409e0952 in global constructors keyed to CMapEntry::CMapEntry ()
   from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#5  0x409e0d05 in __do_global_ctors_aux ()
   from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#6  0x406f20ca in _init () from /usr/lib/qt-2.3.1/lib/libqt.so.2
#7  0x4000d1d9 in _dl_init () at eval.c:41

I downloaded the source RPM from ibibilio and rebuilt it on the Pentium box.
I'm not sure what was wrong with Ben's RPM, but my rebuilt RPM worked for me.

Using KMail from the Pentium to send this message. :)
