Thanks for the suggestions! Keep em coming.
Although it certainly appears that grub is a superior bootloader (and that
lilo is somewhat deprecated), I've never used grub (for my purposes lilo has
never not worked so I've never bothered to replace it). I definately think
I should add it to the discussion agenda, but I don't think I should do two
demos (one grub and one lilo) as part of the main discussion (so not to
confuse people who've never compiled a kernel before).
However, if there are no objections, I do think I'll stick with lilo for the
base demonstration because everyone has it and grub is still considered an
alpha.
I'll see if grub is or can be installed on Jon's machine, at the end of the
evening (provided Jon doesn't object *g*) we can just switch the bootloader
and restart that puppy. Looking at the docs it looks pretty easy. I think
that might be the best demonstration of all. (since most people probably
will start with lilo)
