My last two linux installs have been on laptops - a Compaq Presario 1900T
and IBM Thinkpad T23. In both cases, I tried the latest versions of RedHat and
Mandrake. In both cases, Mandrake automagically recognized more of the
hardware than RedHat. The first time converted me....the second time cemented
the deal.

We use RedHat on our servers here...and don't have problems because they are
Dell servers with relatively standard hardware. But when it comes time for a
desktop install and I want uncommon hardware recoginized (especially APM
and sound/video), I reach for the Mandrake box.
