Intrex LINUX modem--response: been there done that, as they say!! (More
precisely, Mandrake recognized it and apparently installed it, but something
may have changed between 7.2 and 8.0 because what I did to make my ISA modem
work under 7.2 did not work for the "Smart Link 5634PCV. Since I don't have
a lot of experience in these matters it is possible that Mandrake put it in
the wrong location or something in the software needs tweaking. In any case,
I've tried many hours to make it work without success.)
Surely someone in Tri-lug has installed some PCI internal modem using
LINUX?? Hardware lists for LINUX are obviously not as reliable as practical
experience by someone with experience with a particular piece of hardware.
Moreover, it's been my experience that things that are recommended sometimes
don't work, while those which are said to be "not recommended" sometimes DO
work (because distributions change!)
. Thus, I'm looking for someone with PRACTICAL experience with an INTERNAL
PCI modem of some kind. ---Al
