You missed the fact that he wasn't the speaker.  He was the meeting
sponsor.  That means he gets some time to talk about his product
or whatever, but not the whole meeting.  We might could get him
to give an entire talk about it sometime, but that wasn't the
purpose of him being there last night.

Well, you shouldn't regret it.  You're absolutely right.  Unfortunately,
this didn't occur to me until after he'd finished speaking.  I 
definately contributed to the background chatter, rather than paying
attention.  I do apologize for that.  It was rude, and I apologize.

Rambling was the purpose of last night's meeting.  It was all about
rambling.  Other meetings are not meant to have anywhere near as
much chatter.  You can rest assured that the other meetings you've
attended are more representative of the amount of rambling than
last night's meeting.
