I've been there but the only docs are for RH Linux 6.1
I'm not sure where to begin. I've found that my sound card is the same one
that is in the Sony Vaio PCG series, but all the docs there are for the
2.2.x kernel. I have 2.4.16, and I am under the impression that this is
supported since the sony is using ALSA drivers under RH 6.1.
The Sound card in /proc/pci:
bus 0, Device 12, Function 0:
Multimedia audio controller: yamaha Corporation YMF-754 [DS-1E Audio
Controller] (rev 0).
IRQ 11.
Master Capable. Latency-64. Min Gnt=5.Max Lat=25
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xefdf0000 [0xefdf7fff].
I/O at 0xec0 [0xfeff].
I/O at 0xfebc [0xfebf].
It appears that the sound card is on IRQ 11. maybe a conflict?
The modem is a Xircom MPCI Modem 56, and I looked on linmodems.org and was
told to use the lucent driver. I downloaded it but again it was for the
2.2.x kernel.
This is the modem in /proc/pci:
Bus 0, device 8, function `:
Serial controller: PCI device 115d:00d4 (Xircom) (rev 0).
IRQ 11.
I/0 at 0xff38 [0xff3f].
It appears that the modem is on com3 IRQ 11 (am I reading this right?)
Hope this jars someone's brain! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at: http://www.linux-laptop.net/
If you're having problems, could you send us more specific questions
(and perhaps error outputs from failed attempts)?
