Be advised that not all PCG series have the same sound systems.
I'm on a PCG-280 and I get;

  Bus  0, device   8, function  1:
    Multimedia audio controller: Neomagic Corporation [MagicMedia 256AV
Audio] (rev 32).
      IRQ 9.
      Prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfe000000 [0xfe3fffff].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfe700000 [0xfe7fffff].

Mine works fine with just the following line in /etc/modules.conf

alias sound-slot-0 nm256_audio

I'd be a little wary, then, unless you find docs that specifically
mention your chipset (rather than the laptop...)
