Hi All,
This month's Triangle Java User's group speaker will be Sam Ruby of
Apache Fame and Apache Jakarta Fame. Sam is also on the ECMA board
seeking to come up with a standard implementation for C#'s common
language interface.
So you're thinking .. . What kind of @#$#@ posts a Java talk
announcement on .NET (what?) to the Triangle Linux User's group...
If you read on you'll see that the synopsis does include Linux. :-)

Abstract:
Sam Ruby will present an overview of the .NET technologies, covering the
spectrum from the execution engine, languages, class libraries, and web
services. Comparisons to Java technologies and alternatives for Linux
users will be discussed.
About Speaker:
Sam is a Vice President of the Apache Software Foundation and a
developer on the Apache Axis project. He is also the chairman of the
Jakarta project, who's mission is to provide commercial-quality server
solutions based on the Java Platform, developed in an open and
cooperative fashion. He is a member of the XML PMC, an officer of ECMA
and convener of the TC39 group standardizing the Common Language
Infrastructure (CLI) for the .NET Framework. He is also a member of the
PHP group, a select group of developers who contribute to core PHP. He
is a Senior Technical Staff Member in the Emerging Technologies group at
IBM and is involved in a host of open source initiatives. He is also a
member of the Technical advisory board for ActiveState corporation.
