Nope. We did upgrade the firmware (my sysadmin did it for me) not that
long ago, so if you can, do it.

FYI - this is why I keep the pre-installed partition on my laptop. The
manufacturers don't always include DOS or Linux compatible BIOS or
firmware flash upgrade programs.
