There's a secret to this. 

You can boot Win2K from GRUB with no problems - I do it all the time. I
even boot XP on my laptop from GRUB. But you have to install Linux
*SECOND*.

Now, to recover from what's happened here, you can do the following :

1) Insert the RHL 7.1 CDROM 1 into your CD Drive
2) Boot the installer
3) at the boot prompt, type :
linux root=/dev/[your device]

this should (as I recall) boot Linux with /dev/[your device] as the
root. Now all you need to do is modify lilo.conf to fit your new config
and re-install.

Another option would be to get the 7.2 or skipjack CD set and upgrade
the 7.1 system to 7.2 with GRUB and not have to worry about LILO again.
