[TriLUG] backups revisted

I have a similar question to add: I have an old Jumbo 250 tape drive (hey,
I'm cheap), that I'd like to use for archiving. Is there a way to use it? I
have compiled support for it, but I'm "scared" to use it.

FYI...I use my CD burner for backups, but I have some info on tape I'd still
like to have.

I know I should have asked this while the topic was fresh but...Oh well!

My question is this:

Are there any file size limits to the tar command? compressed or
uncommpresed?

What is the best way to throw it to tape?

These questions came to me after i did a tar -tf on one of my backup
files and kept getting "tar: unexpected eof " type errors.
