For what it's worth, I've experienced similar weirdness after upgrading from RedHat7.2/KDE2.2 to RedHat7.3/KDE3.0. I suspect that the upgrade path from KDE2.2 to 3.0 isn't as smooth as it could be. Perhaps KDE3.0 isn't as mature as it should be? I think there was some traffic on the list a few weeks ago regarding similar difficulties. When I find the time, I'm going to try a clean install (not an upgrade) of RHL7.3 and expect to get better results than the upgrade.

I'm becoming a big fan of Mandrake 8.2. I tried MDK8.2/KDE2.2 when it was first released and I've found myself using it all the time.

I was under the impression that one had to purchase SuSe and couldn't download ISO's. Am I mistaken? I buy a distro if I'm going to use it regularly, but I like to try it out for free first.
