The best hardcopy book I could find (not looking too hard, though) was

  'Linux & Unix Shell Programming' by David Tansley
 
   2000, Addison-Wesley ISBN 0-201-67472-6

   $44.95 at the local Barnes & Noble

I've been very happy with it.
