I have an older bios. I typically do not like waiting for the bios to check the floppy, then the CD, then boot. I just wanted it to go ahead and boot.

Since my initial post, I low-level formatted (my 15 GB drive was detected and correctly identified by the low level formatter in bios), and tried to do the install again. This time, however, I only installed the basics (I believe it was the "workstation" option in the Red Hat setup), so it only took me 15 minutes to install the packages. During the install process I looked for anything that indicated in any way that I could make a boot floppy, but I couldn't find anything. So, without a boot floppy, I rebooted the system, waited for the boot loader to come up (this time LILO), still nothing. So, for the time being, I loaded 5.2. I am at a total loss why neither boot loader worked. I've run spinrite on the drive, and all seems good. I'm about to start a level 4 run of spinrite, and if I find any problems with the drive, I'll let you all know so you can stop scratching your head trying to figure out what I (or my hardware) is doing wrong.

Regards,
Jeff
