[TriLUG] Update on RH update problem mentioned in my last e-mail to the list.

Hi, I've learned a new thing about using the up2date tool by reading
through the MAN page for up2date and guessing.

Previously, I've used the RHN network system to update patches and bugs
on my HP and Micron computers. Normally this works fine, but kernel
updates are on a skip list by default, so how to get around the skip list?

Use up2date, but use the -uf command line switch. U instructs the
program to update all your out-of-date packages, and F instructs the
program to ignore the skip-list.

Now, the troublesome part of this is that I believed I had done this
before, but was told all the packages were updated. But I've been
trying so many different things, its hard to remember what combination
of command line switches I've managed to combine.

Next up - will the new kernel bomb as it did last time, or will I have a
smooth upgrade? We'll find out after it trickles over my 64K link.

Bill
