Awhile ago, a snail mail example popped up that was interesting (at least
to me).

Someone was going to publish letters by the reclusive author J.D.
Salinger. However, the content of the letters was protected by copyright,
and the publisher was not allowed to publish them. However, the letters
themselves could be sold, and the content read by the buyer. The
restriction was on the reproduction of the text, not the sale of the text.
