I've looked into the Intrex laptops. They will sell you one WITHOUT M$. They
will take $100 off the price if you don't want Windows XP Home. I didn't
tell them I was TriLUG either, so there may be even more of a discount.

Subject: [TriLUG] Buying a laptop with no Microsoft tax?

Hey folks,

Can anyone recommend someplace to get a laptop with no Microsoft tax? I
found a few web storefronts but I really don't want to buy a laptop without
confidence in their ability to honor the warranty. Yet none of the big
names have an option for no operating system. :(
