Al,

I'm not sure what you're asking for.  KDE and Gnome software, is X
software, so by definition it uses X Windows.  Asking it not to use X
Windows is kind of like asking Netscape to run on a text console.  It's
just not possible and there's no reason FOR it to be possible.  But of
course software can be re-written to use Mac OSX native GUI.  That's a
lot of work, which is why it makes more sense to port XFree86 to MacOS
X, and then get the X programs to work in this environment, which is
what Fink is doing.
